We’ve pulled together another tag cloud for search terms made on plings.net during March. As you can see, the rise of Zumba continues!
We’re are also publishing these images onto Flickr – please let us know if you want to use them in any way – or even if you visualise your own!
Free tools to help
Stewart from the Analysis Exchange helped us gather the tools to query Google Analytics and make this visualisation. The first tool – Excellent Analytics – is really useful to grab data and bring it into an Excel spreadsheet. Alongside this, Stewart recommended ASAP Utilities for helping to refine the data whilst in Excel. Once we have the hang of it, we will post up a quick video tutorial!
Traffic to category pages
We recently made some minor adjustments on the Plings homepage, to encourage traffic to the category pages – Things to Do and Places to Go. Again, analysis has shown us that people stay longer when visiting via these pages, as opposed to just searching.
Pause with Family Information Direct data
Finally, with the loss of the government-funded national aggregator platform for Family Information Services, we’ve had to pause the feed of activities from that source temporarily. However, we are actively speaking to alternative platform providers in order to re-secure this data!
