If you are looking for Plings - the service to help you find activities for young people - we are sorry, but due to the Government's changing funding priorities, this service is no longer supported. You can find out more about what happened to Plings on the Substance website or if you want to browse an archived version of the Plings site you can do so here. However, please note that there is currently no further future data contained and you need to look prior to June 2012 to view any activities.

Thanks for your interest in Plings.

Gardening

Relax outside in the fresh air and sunshine by joining a growing community of young gardeners.

No garden? No problem. You don't need your own outdoor space to do gardening. Sign up for an allotment in your local area, or join a team of guerilla gardeners to transform barren areas of your town or city into beautiful flowerbeds. At home you can have a windowsill garden of herbs, or grow potted houseplants indoors.

Enter your best plants into gardening competitions and grow extra plants to sell to friends and family and make a bit of extra cash.

There are few things more satisfying than eating delicious food you've grown yourself. With rising concerns about food security and food miles, soon everyone will need to start growing some of their own food.

Typical cost: Plants can be bought for as little as £0.50; £5-£10 per month to rent an allotment
