Making Your Own Film

Calling all movie buffs and budding film makers: Are you the next Steven Spielberg?

Learn to see the world through the eyes of a movie director by making your own film. You'll need a grasp of how to tell a good story, skills at directing actors, and an understanding of camera angles, light and sound.

Make a documentary about the things that matter to you, or film a drama or comedy. After shooting the footage, make the director's cut using editing software, then post your finished film to YouTube or enter it into a competition.

Typical cost: £100+ for a digital video camera and editing software. Talented young film-makers can apply for funding to make a film from First Light Movies and Media Box.
